A Dialogue Between Art and Nature
For the grand opening of the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, we were entrusted by the Royal Family to create floral installations that would echo the spirit of I.M. Pei’s architectural masterpiece. The building itself, rising from the waters of the Corniche, is a vision of geometric purity and timeless elegance. Our role was to weave nature into this dialogue, introducing the soft breath of flowers to accompany the precision of stone, glass, and light.
Outside, the approach was transformed by rivers of rose petals, leading guests towards the museum like a ceremonial carpet alive with color and fragrance. Sculptural columns of flowers stood as glowing beacons at the evening celebration, merging tradition with spectacle. Within the galleries and vast halls, calla lilies curved like waves, cubes of blossoms mirrored the geometry of the space, and entire walls bloomed into living tapestries of pattern and hue.
Every element was conceived as an offering: floral artistry in conversation with Islamic geometry, evoking harmony, abundance, and reverence. In this opening chapter, flowers became more than decoration, they became a bridge between culture and celebration, architecture and ephemerality.
