Lauriers of Grandeur – A Living Masterpiece
In the beating heart of Bruges, the Grand Place was reborn as a monumental landscape of timeless greenery. Under our vision, the square was transformed into a vast laurel garden — an ephemeral plantation of sculptural precision and poetic scale.
Hundreds of laurel trees, some more than a century old, rose proudly among waves grass, creating a living dike-landscape that swept across the historic square. For four days, a city’s stone heart was softened into a green sanctuary, drawing more than 80,000 visitors who came to walk, to wonder, and to breathe in the artistry.
This was not merely a garden, but a statement: a testament to the power of design at the highest level, where nature, culture, and architecture converge. Laurier op de Markt stands as a landmark in Ost’s oeuvre—a project of Japanese precision, Belgian soul, and global resonance.
Here, the grandeur of Bruges embraced the artistry of Daniel Ost, and together they created a spectacle that lingers in memory long after the leaves have been lifted.
