Reflection in Bloom

Within the richly layered interior of Annabel’s private members’ club, Nele Ost conceived an installation that brings the rhythm of a garden indoors. Rising from a reflective black base, a dense architecture of bamboo forms a striking botanical landscape—at once monumental, ordered and alive.

Delicate flowers emerge unexpectedly from between the tall green stems. Lisianthus, sweet peas and astrantia in soft shades of blush, ivory and pale green create moments of lightness against the strength and verticality of the bamboo. Some blooms gather generously towards the crown, while others appear almost weightlessly across the structure, inviting the eye to discover the composition gradually.

A corresponding floral tableau extends across the club’s ornate fireplace, where individually cut bamboo vessels hold a sweeping field of flowers. The contrast between natural material, refined architecture and contemporary floral expression transforms the room without overpowering its character. Created for Annabel’s during the Chelsea Flower Show, the installation reflects Nele Ost’s distinctive approach: sculptural in form, sensitive to place and guided by the expressive possibilities of botanical material.
